A friend of mine has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), his name is David Heaton-Ellis and he’s only 40 something years old. This is his appeal HERE. Please do watch it.David has set-up a Charity to raise money for a DNA sequencing machine for the Neurological research team at King’s College Hospital and to then finance the research programme for the next 3 years, not that this will help his condition, but in the hope that it will prevent his Son, who is 18mths old and other generations from suffering the effects of this cruel debilitating disease.
I have, without really thinking about the consequences, (as I’m not in the best of physical condition) just signed myself up to take part in a 100 km Mountain Bike event on 3rd October 2009, to raise money for his Charity. At least I have the luxury of choosing, something David does not. So it’s on with the Lycra I’m afraid.
I’m appealing for sponsorship support. Please visit this, my online sponsorship site and give whatever you can to help this extremely worthwhile cause, in the knowledge that The Heaton-Ellis Trust has no overheads or administration costs to cover, meaning that All Money Raised will pass directly to the appeal. http://www.justgiving.com/
Many thanks
